Description: Since the release of the new book by Richard Coleman with nice pictures and prices, it is now a lot easier to price these elusive copper coins that saw extensive circulation in the early United States and were legal until at least 1858. He priced the coins using auction records, fixed price lists and of course his extensive knowledge of the series. These coins are mentioned in the Red Book as being used in the early U.S. although there is not enough room to list them there. Offered here is a rare Evasion halfpenny listed by Coleman in his 2015 book as his EH-8c and priced there at $800 in F going to $1500 in VF and this one is about VF for the type. Listed also in Breen as his 1152. I think the price is too high in his book, so my price is much lower. Many numismatic specialists believe they were struck for an American merchant, probably Philadelphia. I am almost certain it was for an American merchant. There is a variety with a seated figure of commerce on the reverse; (I also have that one listed) the seated figure representing trade has her finger pointing to the United States on a globe. These coins were made to look circulated to further their acceptance in trade. All the legends are full. It has hard glossy surfaces and nice color. The coin looks great and is rare. I scanned the price in Coleman and it is the last picture. See the scans. U.S.shipping is $5. It will cost me more. PayPal preferred. I AM ALWAYS OPEN TO OFFERS ON ANY OF MY LISTINGS. JUST ASK. WORST THING IS I SAY NO. I COMBINE SHIPPING USUALY ADDING NOTHING AND WHEN I DO ONLY ENOUGH TO COVER ADDITIONAL INSURANCE OR POSTAGE. IF YOU PAY FOR MORE THAN ONE ITEM, I WILL REFUND THE DIFFERENCE.
