Description: 1887 Daniel Manning Medal - Secretary of the Treasury - LOVELY and RARE We have a very large (3 inches) medal here struck at the U.S. Mint ca. 1900. This medal is the original strike with beautiful bronzing (please do not confuse this one with modern restrikes that are worth ten bucks, they are just paperweight). Obv. Portrait of DANIEL MANNING Rev. SECRETARY / OF THE / TREASURY / 1885-1887 This medal was designed by George Morgan of the Morgan Dollar fame. Manning served as the 37th Secretary of the U.S. Treasury under President Grover Cleveland from 1885 to 1887. His portrait also appears on 1886 $20 Silver Certificate. Aside from minor cabinet friction and minute discoloration, this medal is nearly as made with nice rims and edge. Bronzing is full. Who wanted this medal back then? That's the point. Not many were made and sold, making it quite rare today. INTERNATIONAL buyers who are interested in buying multiple items from us, let me know BEFORE you click and pay.
