Description: This is a rare find for collectors of antique books and diaries. The 1932 diary journal of Standiford Gorin, written in English and bound in leather, contains 359 pages of handwritten entries. Only 6 dates had no entries. When Standiford Danforth was born on 5 September 1885, in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, United States, her father, George Lewis Danforth, was 31 and her mother, Florence Standiford, was 28. She married Lewis Jefferson Gorin on 20 January 1908, in Jefferson, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons. She lived in Jefferson, Kentucky, United States in 1930 and Magisterial District 1, Jefferson, Kentucky, United States in 1940. She died on 17 January 1972, in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, United States, at the age of 86. This Diary Journal Documents the Daily Life of a Wealthy family (by 1932 Standards) in 1932. Standiford's father had died the previous year and She documents numerous trips With her mother to Cave Hill which is a Cemetery in Louisville and I presume these were visits were she was taking her mother to her recently decease fathers grave. She talks about Church Life, things she worked on, and about raising her youngest son who turned 10 in 1932. (His name was also Standiford). She talks about his first Music Lesson he had that year. She also talks about different restaurants the ate at in Louisville in 1932, some of which were: Dick's, Egyptian Tea Room. She Talks about witnessing a Partial Eclipse on August 31, 1932. No big trips were taken by the Gorin's in 1932. Standiford does talk about a visit the made to Chicago, Illinois. There she talks about going to the Shroeder Hotel Coffee Shop at the Milwaukee City Center. She went to the Chicago Athletic Club and had lunch at the Congress Motel. They ate at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis on the way home. She also talks about a trip they made to Glasgow Kentucky to visit family. She names many of the Family members they got to see in Glasgow. She mentions that they had Lunch at the Spottswood Hotel. She said it was a good Dinner for .50 cents each. Just a few other minor pieces of ephemera were with the Journal when I obtained it. I will include them with the diary.
