Please have a look at all pictures.The fossils include a piece with a beautifully preserved barklouse (large wings) with a fly, a second piece contains a worker ant, a third piece has a winged ant with a gall gnat, a fourth with a fulguroid insect, and a fifth with a fly, all from an ancient tropical forest.The pieces weigh a total of 4.7 g and have approximate lengths between 1.3 and 2.5 cm each (2.5 cm is approximately 1 inch). These pieces were sanded and polished from rough originating from the Dominican Republic.Dominican fossil amber is known for the clarity of its inclusions including such things as insects, arachnids, and botanicals. Please note that the saltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink. However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
