Description: Please read & note: This is a Rights holding DVD created & produced by me and is not factory made or sealed. I strive to produce the best DVD's possible from the sometimes VERY old Public Domain material. Films that are public domain are unpreserved and not professionally re-mastered. I re-master all of my films myself to the best possible quality achievable. My DVDs are not the quality of todays Modern DVDs or Bluray discs. If you are looking for this kind of quality then these discs are not for you. All pictures are actual screen captures from the DVDs. Please note this when purchasing, but also know that all of the films are very watchable. To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. This way you can write the contents of the DVD on the DVD yourself if you want to. (See picture). All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Total runtime of this DVD is 98 minutes. Film 1: Flying with Arthur Godfrey (1953) COLOR Runtime 48 minutesArthur Godfrey takes to the skies and teaches us all the different knobs and controls of an airplane. Being an obviously proud pilot, he relishes every minute of this picture, which makes this plane film that much more interesting. After flying from New York to Miami and a nap he lands in Miami, and hooks up with some jet pilots which take him on a jet trip to demonstrate what was then newfangled jet technology. It all wraps up with Godfrey visiting the Eastern Airlines president and back slapping with him, telling us all about the future of plane travel (love the helicopter idea). This is a great picture and is quite interesting.Release Date: 1953Entered the Public Domain: 1982 Film 2: Aviation: The Career for Marc (1964) COLOR Runtime 18 minutes In this film, Marc, is all hyped up about wanting to become a pilot. He studies about it in his whoa-who-designed-that bedroom, and his dad pulls some strings so Marc can tour a jet. Not bad, seems to be designed for the older kids.Release Date: 1964Entered the Public Domain: 1993 Film 3: An Airplane Trip By Jet (1960) FADED COLOR Runtime 10 minutesFun film about two kids travelling along from New York to San Framcisco by plane. There's lots of 1960s airplane culture no longer there (massive lunches!) and some not even remembered (free gum!) The airline stewardess attentiveness to Sue and condescending attitude to Bob is great too. ("Oh, you can have one too") The kids even get to hand out the aforementioned free gum to the passengers! Just a big airline treat. Highly recommended!Release Date: 1960Entered the Public Domain: 1989 Film 4: Behind The Scenes At The Airport (1947) B&W Runtime 9 minutesRay, a young tyke of about say 10, is travelling from Toronto to Boston. At a transfer point, (this IS 1947 after all) Ray stops and talks to the pilot, admires the simplicity of the airport, and then leaves. The pilot then talks to us and states the airport is not as easy as it appears. They've got mechanics! Ticket Agents! Groundscrew! Great to see the 1940s airports in action.Release Date: 1947Entered the Public Domain: 1976 Film 5: Airport America (1954) COLOR Runtime 13 minutesThis 50s film tries to sell the idea that all small towns need airports. It predicts a future where darn near everybody in every town flies all over the place. Except in remote areas where there is little ground transportation, such as Alaska, it was not to be. But they sure tried hard to make it so in this film, which gives it some mild camp value, as well as some historical value. The film goes all over the map, starting with a history lesson about the car, then the highway and then the airplane. The narration briefly talks about airports, then seems to wander off again.Release Date: 1954Entered the Public Domain: 1983 I claim ownership and rights to this media.
