Description: Very cool demitasse or after dinner set from the famous Ambassador Hotel. This hotel was built in 1919 in Atlantic City and was popular with movie stars as well as gangsters over the years. It was rebuilt in 1981 and now operates as Tropicana Casino. The cup features the shield of the hotel, an eagle atop an A with lions on either side.and a Latin phrase, all in gold overglaze with matching gold stripes. The cup stands approx. 2 1/4 inches tall. The saucer is decorated only with gold stripes and measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter. The full color Shenango backstamp dates it to 1912-1920s, which probably makes this from the original china order. No chips or cracks on either piece but there is wear to the gold trim.
