Description: This is a wonderful Antique 19th c. Old West Native American Folk Art Navajo Indian Oil Painting on Artist Board, depicting a young Native American Navajo Brave, roasting a cob of corn over a small campfire. The young warrior has two eagle feathers adorning his hair and has a red Navajo blanket draped over his shoulders, which displays the classic diamond and Spider Woman Cross motifs. He wears a necklace made of bear claws and has beaded moccasins on his feet. The artist's attention to detail and cultural accuracy is fantastic and displays the painter's understanding of Navajo and Native American culture. This painting does not appear to be signed, but perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? This small gem is approximately 11 1/2 x 14 7/8 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 8 7/8 x 12 inches. This piece likely dates to the 1890's - 1910's. Very good condition for well over a century of age and storage, with mild scuffing and edge wear to the original period antique wooden frame (please see photos.)
