Description: Antique Avon Faience Ceramic Pitcher Tankard 10" Strawberries & Lady Description: A decorative ceramic pitcher or tankard by Avon Faience, div. of Wheeling Pottery Co., a short lived firm. This tapered pitcher may have on was once part of a tankard set which was accompanied by handled mugs. On one side this tall pitcher features a transfer of a lady carrying a basket of apples. The opposite side a cluster of strawberries on a vine with leaves. A striking dark green band surrounds the top edge, outlined with gold trim and a generous size side handle. Due to age and use, this tall pitcher does show its age and originality with all over crazing. Note: Refer to “Condition” for additional information. Visible all-over crazing on exterior and interior. Interior is clean although has all-over crazing. One 1/8” vertical hairline from top rim at inner spout area, although does not go through (as shown). No weakness to area. If using as a vase, it does hold water with no leaks.
