Description: Very fine, museum quality large antique Bolivian Aymara textile woven in the 1800s using natural wool, cochineal and indigo dyes. Estimated to be 150 to 200 years old. This large finely hand-spun and woven "Awayo", or shawl, or carrying blanket is a very good example of Bolivian textile art. Collected in the 1970s by Jonathan Hill and described in his book "Bolivian Indian Textiles". Stored away in a mothproof trunk.
