Description: Antique 1890s House of Worth style reception bustle back trained silk gown. I cannot express how happy I am to own a piece like this, although not labeled worth, it has a very similar appearance and look of a worth gown! Let’s get into talking about this wonderful reception gown! This piece is from around the 1893-5 era, wonderful “leg of mutton” sleeves with tassel and glass beads flowing down, pleated and ruffled cuff to the sleeve, lace up back with a long princess lined train flowing down the piece! Glass buttons for easy in and out of the dress are in the front! The whole bodice is lined in silk, boned and finished seams! The skirt of this dress is just breathtaking! With a wonderful a symmetrical pleated ruffle and huge silk bow in the front followed with more tassels and glass beads, the underside of the skirt is lined in a tartan to help keep the wonderful shape as the skirt would glide across the floor! Speaking of that, the gown still has a wonderful dust ruffle attached to the gown as well! Now, these pieces of clothing I sell are not supposed to ever be worn by the modern person, simply for preservation! Wonderful on a dress form or even in a museum if you’re a curator, this is screaming for you! There is two armpit stains from the original owner who that might’ve been, one armpit is starting to shred a tad, and some of the beads are missing as to expect with age, but given it’s over 130 years old, this piece is as pristine as can be.
