This Pocket compass watch pattern number is 5613R, was made in New York unknown date but probably circa 1920-1940. Metal and glass, nickel silver watch style case, 1-3/4" diameter; etched metal dial, silvered and marked every 2 degrees in degrees every quadrant; edge bar needle. Radium (R in product number is for 'radium') luminous indicators (N, S, E, W) for night use. This product appears to have been introduced post-World War I. It does not appear in the 35th edition catalog of 1915, but does appear in the April 1920 price list. Dial states "Keuffel & Esser Co., New York." Model number does not appear on this item. Each of the pocket compasses issued by K&E have different dial markings making it possible to distinguish them. Keuffel & Esser Co. main office and factories were in Hoboken in the period when this item was made. This is in great shape as shown, and even the locking pin works properly.
