Material Type: Steel Height: 13 ¼” Height with Handle Extended: 17 ½” Width: 7” Weight: 2 lbs 8.4 oz The Feuerhand story begins in the 1870s in the Saxon Ore Mountains in Eastern Germany. Here, Hermann Nier, operating out of a small silverware workshop, made miners lamps and household lanterns. As industrialization spread, Harmann and his brother Ernst established a dedicated factory to produce kerosene lanterns. Later generations of the Neir family continued to run the Neir Feuerhand Company, eventually becoming the world biggest lantern producer in the 1930s. Collectors of Feuerhand lanterns can easily distinguish pre-war lanterns, as they were all stamped “Made in Germany” but all post-war lanterns are stamped with “W. Germany”. Only a few minor age related wear. Please see pictures as they are part of the description. Zoom in on the pictures for more details on the condition or request additional pictures if needed.
