Description: Antique Welz & Zerweck Blob Top Beer Bottle from Brooklyn New York Bottle stands just shy of 9 inches tall and dates to about 1890-1900 Sharp and clear embossing. This brewery has it's beginnings in 1857 by John Welz who operated out of Scholes Street. About 5 years after that he moved operations to the intersection of Myrtle and Wyckoff Avenues. Since the location was in close proximity to High Ground Park the brewery was named "The High Ground Brewery." Later on a large hotel and associated restaurant became part of the brewery complex. By 1883 John Welz retired and turned over operations to his son John Welz Jr. and his son in law, Charles Zerweck.
