Description: About this shell: Conidae Conus (Gastridium) Geographus - Large Author: Linnaeus, 1758Common Name: Geography ConeSize: 98.36 mmLocality: Okinawa, JapanOrigin: Collected liveNice, large specimen that we collected live and placed in our aquarium and watched it shoot & devour a 12 inch eel. We found this specimen nearly 50 years ago. There are a couple of micro- chips on the lip near the base. This is part of our late father’s large collection of seashells he obtained while stationed on Okinawa, Japan in 1974-1978. His interests in shells grew from more than the Indo-Pacific species when he engaged in trading his shells with some of the prominent collectors around the world. He was an avid scuba diver and seashell collector. The results of many deep dives led to the creation of a collection of some of the best shells Okinawa had to offer. Ted’s shells have been cared for and stored for the past 50 years. All are in excellent condition. My sister and I are listing shells after researching them for value, quality and uniqueness. We are not conchologists and are giving our opinion on the condition and quality of the shell when compared to other listings. Thanks for your interest in this shell. Please check out the feedback provided by satisfied seashell buyers. My sister and I have two ebay accounts to list my father's shells. If you don't see anything of interest in my listing, please look at the shells my sister has posted (username: shells4you)
