The coin displays King George VI's bust facing left on the obverse and a sail ship "The Golden Hind" on the reverse. The coin has the words "GEORGIVS VI. D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP." surrounding the king's bust. The reverse is marked "HALF PENNY 1939" surrounding the ship. Early small denomination British coins such as this are gradually getting more difficult to find especially in such a nice condition. Please carefully review the photos provided as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1939 Mint: Great Britain. Size and weight: Bronze coin weighs ~5.4 gm and is ~25 mm in diameter. References: It is KM #844. Condition: I would grade this coin as a nice extremely fine to about uncirculated with all of its details being well preserved. The coin is nicely toned and shows minimum even wear. It does have some scratches and some minor bag marks. However, these do not distract from the beauty or quality of the coin.
