The clamshell case is a thin spine type because it was originally a part of a boxed set of all thirteen films in one slipcase, which did not come with inserts inside the clamshells. This DVD is exactly the same as the individually issued DVD in a full-width clamshell, only made slimmer to allow all 13 to fit into one slipcase.
