Description: For sale today I have a beautiful, hand carved Steatite stone, greenish blue faience Scarab Beetle, presumably dating to the 33rd Dynasty Ancient Egypt circa 600-300 BCE. These stone carvings were also glazed by the Ancient Egyptians in order to preserve them more perfectly. The Scarab, or Common Dungbeetle, was revered by the Ancient Egyptians because of their ability to push a large sphere many times their own body weight nearly effortless. A terrific object for study or display, this will make a wonderful addition to any student or appreciators collection of Ancient Egyptian art and artifacts. Good artifact condition.
