Description: The 1,000 Colombian pesos banknote was one of the two new denominations introduced in the 2000 series. It has an orange and brown color scheme and measurements of 130 mm by 65 mm. Its obverse side contains a square symbol for the blind, a portrait of Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Ayala, the politician whose death set off the La Violencia, on the foreground, and the crowd gathered to hear Jorge Gaitans speech in front of the Nutibara Hotel in Medellin at the background. The reverse side of the note depicts Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Ayalas presidential candidancy announcement in Bogota. The note has a scales registration device, Braille script on the watermark area, a solid security thread with demetalized BR COLOMBIA and a watermark of Jorge Gaitan. This note is in uncirculated condition.
