Description: Commemorative Peace Pearlware Transferware Waste Bowl Britannia is flanked by two women, one symbolizing Peace and the other, holding a Phrygian or Liberty cap on a pole, representing the new French Republic. This design was produced to commemorate the short lived Peace or Treaty of Amiens, signed in 1802 by Joseph Bonaparte and the Marquess Cornwallis to end hostilities between Britain and France. The peace lasted only a year; however, the design itself may have endured longer. Pattern is referred to as Classical Ladies #03. Piece is finished by an ochre line on base rim. Transfer pattern with hand painted enamel. Unmarked, circa 1810. Approx. 2.5"H X 5"W.
