Description: The cored curling stone is a unique way to embrace the sport of curling. If you watch closely during the Olympics you will see that every championship curling stone is actually made up of two different kinds of granite. The running surface, or part of the stone that touches the ice is made from Blue Hone Granite. That is the part of the stone that is missing in this purchase. Blue Hone granite is a very fine grain, that is perfect for sliding on the ice and not absorbing any moisture. The problem with this kind of granite is that it doesn't hold up very well over time as the rocks crash into one another. So the best of both worlds comes into play at events like the Olympics. They cut out the middle of old Blue Hone stones, cut them into slices, and then stick them into the bottom of stones from a different granite. Plastic handle not included. Used for reference in photo. This item is a great keepsake and decoration piece, and it comes with a built in story for you to impress all of your friends. Put it on the mantle, use it as a door stop, flower planter, anything you want. Great for the curling enthusiast in your life.
