Description: Offered for sale is a beautiful antique JELLY COMPOTE. It was made by Riverside Glass Works of Wellsburg, WV. The pattern is called EMPRESS, aka Riverside #492. The pattern consists of smooth arched panels, the tops of which are adorned with bright metallic gold. This pattern was introduced in 1899. The jelly compote stands 4 3/4 inches (10.2cm) tall. It measures 4 inches (7.6cm) in diameter at the rim, and 3 inches (7.0cm) in diameter at the foot. A U.S. quarter is shown in the third picture, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, deep scratches, or repairs. The gold decoration has minimal wear. All my items are from a SMOKE FREE home. Watch for the other fine antique and EAPG glass items I'm offering this week!
