Description: Egyptian Revival: Antique Czech Fancy Dress Brass and Embossed Pink Glass Earrings with Brass Pharaoh Image These beautiful Art Deco earrings are from a collection of 1920’s Czechoslovakian costume jewelry. They are completely original except for the backs, which are newer gold-toned European hooks. Following the 1922 excavation of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen’s tomb, Czech jewelry-makers produced Egyptian-themed Art Deco jewelry such as these earrings. The focal point of the earrings is a one and one-half inch high, 1-inch-wide stamped brass portrait of an Egyptian pharaoh. The pharaoh’s face shows pride and determination. The image is based on paintings found on the walls inside Tutankhamen’s tomb. The pharaoh’s profile portrait is complete with a headdress which includes a snake head and bird wings. His head has many long twisted braids. There are three pink glass pendants linked below the portrait. The glass elements have brass bead caps and black seed bead accents. The middle pendant, which is 2 inches long, has a ¾ inch embossment of flowers painted in gilt. One earring has a small scrape and tiny areas of discoloration on the pharaoh’s face, see photos. The metal parts have no other damage. There are no chipped, cracked, broken or missing beads. In very good condition for age. A fascinating, wearable piece of the past. A great gift for a collector.
