Midwinter, et al, 1741.Forth edition, 12mo (in sixes 6½” x 3¾”), pp. engraved frontispiece portrait, (2), (1), 2-406, (21) index, (3), adv, volume 2 only (of 2) containing chapters xiv (14) through xxv (25), to the end of II, all of III, & all of IV, & with a separate title page (within continuous pagination) for III & IV. Agrees with Sabin 23486 volume 2 calling for “Plate, Title, pp. 406, Index, II”. (Volume 1, not offered here, is pp. 354, 4 plates).Later full red levant niger morocco by Orrock & Son with their pallet signature at the foot of the verso of the front free endpaper, blind decorated sides, back in six compartments, gilt lettered in the second & third, five raised bands, gilt date at foot, inner gilt dentelles, all edges gilt. Attractive signed binding in near fine condition. The only plate, as called for, is the frontispiece portrait of Francis Lolonois. Sheets are age toned but nearly entirely without stains or foxing. Small academy stamp (1¼“ x ¼”) at lower margin of title page. Faint stamp traces on edges. Volume 2 only of Sabin 23484. Rare . H7977 All Items Are Sent Insured.
