Description: It's been a while since I presented a piece by Gerardo Lopez but he is one of my favorite Taxco maestros, a talented silversmith and designer who excelled in the art of jewelryand flatware. I believe Lopez was at his best when he created flatware latter form that I am showing here. Definitely inspired by Los Castillo and Margot de Taxco (I have suggested in the past that Lopez must have worked for either one or both of the famous workshops) A wonderful vintage Gerardo Lopez taxco mexico sterling silver serving set, circa 1950s. Features loop handles with figural blossom detail. Good vintage condition, Measures approximately: fork 10.5"l x 2.75"w spoon 10.5"l x 2.5"w Total Weighs approx: 250 grams. Stamped on back of each piece, Made in Mexico, 925 Sterling, Makers mark Lopez by Gerardo Lopez In the 1950s, Gerardo Lopez had a highly regarded Taxco shop and his silver jewelry was well regarded. His large factory and shop were recommended by guidebooks as one of the best silver shops in Taxco. Lopezs beautifully aged sterling draws inspiration from Colonial Spain and Art Nouveau.
