Description: This Listing is for a Hallmarked Vintage Japanese Arita Imari Porcelain Plate by Aoki Brothers. The Hallmark (located on the underside) allows us to accurately date this This Hand painted Plate to 1950. The Art on the Plate features Dragons (in the Center), Gold Gilded Cranes and Flying Carp Fish. The Plate is 8 1/2” inches diameter, 1 ¼” inches deep and weighs 12 ounces. The Plate is nearly 75 years old and is an Excellent Overall Condition, but there are some issues that need to be pointed out -- There are TWO CHIPS on the Top Rim of the plate (see Listing pics #5 & #6) that are noticeable but not obvious. Much of the Gold Gilt is still Present and shines with a bright luster, but some of the Gilding has been lost. Most noticeable would be One Strip (of three) where the Gold has been worn away leaving only the Blue Background (see listing pic #7). And there is some Overall Wear that is actually better than most plates from this time period. The issues above are hard at first to notice because of the Bright vitality of the Colors and Hand Painted Artwork which illuminates this plate. More Info on the Imari Plate Artwork: Japanese Dragons are revered as the benefactors and protectors of mankind shielding us from universal dangers. The Cranes on the Plate symbolize longevity. In Japanese Culture the depiction of the Flying Carp Fish represented Perseverance. Let us know if you have any questions.
