Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for auction is this Hope, Arkansas, Charter #10579, $5.00 1902 Third Charter Blue Seal Plain Back. Fr. #605, with treasury signatures of Gabe E. Parker as Register of the Treasury and John Burke as Treasurer of The United States. The cashier of this bank is C.C. Spragins and the President of the bank is R.M. LaGrone, and their signatures are stamped. This bank chartered in July of 1914, taking the name, “The Citizens National Bank of Hope, Arkansas”. This bank issued 140,308 large size Nationals, from 1916 thru 1929 when the Bureau of Engraving & Printing switched over to print small size National Currency, Series of 1929. This note was probably issued between 1923 – 1926 by the bank. This note has dirt and soil on both sides. There are no rips, tears or pinholes in this note. There is a tiny “V” cut into the bottom margin of the note to the left of the signatures and just under the serial number of the note. I mention this for accuracy only, but it does not affect the note in any way. I have marked the area in orange. I grade this note as a solid Fine, but you look at the scans and judge the quality for yourself. The Kelly Census shows 11 large size notes reported on the bank. There is currently 1 – $5.00 Blue Seal Date Back, 4 - $5.00 Blue Seal Plain Backs and 6 - $10.00 Blue Seal Plain Backs. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Of the 11 large size notes recorded, one is XF/Au, and two are Very Fines, the remaining 8 notes grade Fine or lower. This is typical for a southern bank, as the hot wet climate took its toll on these banknotes. This note is new to the census, the new owner can report it if they so choose. This note would make a fine addition to any Arkansas State National Banknote collection. The bank was located in Hempstead County. This note should appeal to those collecting that County and its surrounding areas. Don’t let this note get away!
