Description: Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku W/ Wooden Box This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features monochrome calligraphy with two big Japanese characters which says Shin Nin meaning endure and abstain. This piece is signed with red seals. It is stored in a wooden box. Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
