Description: This is a rare July 1984 program (playbill) from the two-performance, Grant Park Concerts production of the GEORGE and IRA GERSHWIN, GEORGE S. KAUFMAN and MORRIE RYSKIND musical comedy "OF THEE I SING" in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. (The Grant Park Concerts, in their 50th Anniversary Season, presented "Of Thee I Sing" for two performances only, July 18th and July 20th, 1984.) ..... The Gershwin's "OF THEE I SING" originally opened December 26th, 1931 at New York's Music Box Theatre and was the first musical ever awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The groundbreaking show was one of the first Broadway productions to deal with the serious subject of American politics, satirizing inept politicians with limited vision and the ignorant voters who elected them .....
