Description: John Winthrop Family Massachusetts MAPPIN & WEBB Sterling Silver Glass Bottles Bottles were sourced together from the same collection and are uncleaned in "as-found" condition. The larger bottle (with the Winthrop family crest and motto in Latin, Hope Conquers the Throne) measures about 5" height. Sterling silver lid has some dents and tarnish, the glass stopper is chipped on the top and bottom. Other than that, the bottle is in near excellent condition overall. The smaller bottle measures about 3 3/4" height. Sterling silver lid has tarnish, and along with the Mappin & Webb hallmarks, on the back has initials MA with sideways pine tree (pine tree hallmark was used by Timothy Tuttle in Boston Massachusetts). Top of lid engraved with initials F.W. (possibly belonging to Frederic Bayard Winthrop, Jr., born 1906, which would fit the hallmark time periods). The bottle has two crack chips that do not go through to the inside of the bottle, and that could possibly be polished down/out by a professional (see last attached photo for detailed area). Also has some tiny negligible flea-bite size chips on the beveled foot and a top corner (not distracting). The bottle is in good condition otherwise.
