It's in color, wide-screen formatted for TV viewing, R-Rated, playable in all Regions, with Dolby Digital Sound and a running time of 124 minutes. Alfred James (Sonny) Pacino grew up in a tenement in a tough, heavily Italian section of the Bronx. Although he was short, he was intense and charismatic, and ran his group of teen thugs, a number of whom died of heroin overdoses. He survived and pursued acting. Trained in the New York City-based school which taught "method acting," same as Brando, Dean, De Niro, Marilyn Monroe and dozens of other 1950s and 1960s break-out stars, he made some noise on Broadway before becoming a hot new actor in Hollywood. One of his early critical successes, filmed in New Yor, was PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK, in which he played a heroin addict. At the time of publication, he was one of Hollywood biggest stars - THE GODFATHER Trilogy, SERPICO, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, SCARFACE, SEA OF LOVE, and the curious big budget bomb DICK TRACY. But he was always haunted by his youth and lost pals, and became known as one of the industry's most turbulent stars. It's a fascinating book, and Pacino fully cooperated, so it's the honest trun about a truly meteoric star who rose from the ashes. There are many other copies of the book on eBay, none nearly as nice as mine. The Buy-It-Now price for both items is $24.00, which includes shipping bubble-wrapped in a cardboard box via media mail, which takes around 7 days with tracking, less in California.
