Description: Here we have a Vintage MANN Edge Tool Co. 'TRUE AMERICAN' Single Bit Camp Ax Axe Hatchet w/ Orig. Handle, 1 lb. 6oz, 13-1/2" Long. This size and shape of axe is very similar to a boy's or a Scout axe. It is in Good 'used tool' condition. A previous owner ground or sanded off some mushrooming of the poll end so you can just barely read " MANN EDGE TOOL CO." on the right side, just above "LEWISTOWN, PA U.S.A.". The left cheek of the head is marked: "TRUE AMERICAN". The head surface smooth with some minor scratches and nicks. It has a nice patina just the way you want to see these. The head is approx.4-3/4" long with a 3"L edge. It has very good nail-pulling notch. The hickory handle looks like its the original one. Over the years owners have added additional wedge material to tighten up the head. It is currently rock solid. There are some age-related chipping down by the tip. I don't' see any cracks.
