When the system is powered on, there might be a “black screen of death” or the screen freezes. If the screen freezes, you will have to do a hard reset on the system by holding the power button for 10 seconds until it’s fully shut off. It doesn’t freeze while playing any Nintendo DS games if you launch a Nintendo DS game title quickly on the Home Screen as soon as it turns on, but it will freeze when you exit the Nintendo DS game software to the home screen. Leaving the system idle on the home menu or playing any 3DS games or applications at anytime will freeze the screen shortly. There are also some minor scratches and cracks on the sides of the system (see the pictures). While all the buttons are still working, the sounds and microphone are functioning well, and the hinge and both screens are still in good condition, the screen freezing constantly and some wears on the system are the only problems with this 2DS XL. Based on the research I did, it seems like it needs a motherboard replacement to make the system run again without any issues, according to the YouTube video called “I Bought 44 Broken Handheld Game Consoles from eBay - Can I Fix Them?” (located at 16:46 in the video) by TronicsFix.
