Description: **** N O R F O L K I S L A N D **** 9 S E P T. 2001 ATM / COUNTER PRINTED LABEL / CPL FINE & SCARCE OFFICIAL FIRST DAY COVER ASC756a EXCELLENT UNADDRESSED CONDITION Postage labels, so-called "Counter Printed Stamps", were produced through a Hytech weighing and label printing machine installed at the Norfolk Island Post Office. The labels were used for parcel post, the minimum value available being AUD$1.40; thereafter values were 2001 parcel postal rates in force on Norfolk Island. The most commonly used "set" of 4 comprises the minimum parcel rates for International Zone 1 ($1.40 Surface Mail, $1.90 Air Mail), International Zone 3 ($2.50 Air Mail), and Australian Air Parcel ($3.00). As with regular mint stamps purchased from any Post Office, the counter stamps could be used on the date they were printed, or at any time after that date. It is rare to see them used on commercial covers. THIS IS A SCARCE NORFOLK FIRST DAY COVER. The set of 4 labels and/or First Day Cover were ONLY distributed ON REQUEST to Philatelic Bureau NEW ISSUE SUBSCRIBERS. NOT MANY AROUND !!
