This set is porcelain, so all pieces are breakable, so she will need to be careful when playing with them. They also do have gold trim on them, which really only means you will have to hand wash every piece. They should not go in the dishwasher. This tea set is BRANtD NEW in the round, pink box, as shown in my photos. I did unwrap every piece to take good photos for this listing, and it gave me an opportunity to inspect every piece to make sure they were in perfect condition. No damage, no chips, cracks, breaks, etc.... The only flaw I can say, if it is considered one, is the fact that the surface of the pink box does have some imperfections, such as scratches, indentions, etc... nothing major, and still looks to be in Brand New Condition.
