Description: Set of 2 Marked Genoa Italy Solid Silver Neo-Classical Candle Sticks c1790Presented is an impressive set of two hand-hammered Neo-classic Candle Sticks with beautiful leaf motif decoration and removable gold wash bobeche. They have an engaved armorial or crest with Quaro Invento or by which I find. These great pieces are both marked on the bottom for silver made of 800 fine silver originating in Genoa Italy c1790. I have posted a picture of my research on these marks in the photos above. American standard sterling silver is 925 fine, so there is slightly less silver in this alloy. They are in beautiful condition with only some small dings, a slight lean to both, a great crest on one side of circular base and a mixed script monogram on the other with only some fine scratches from gentle use and care. This is a beautiful set candle sticks for the collector. I believe the bobeches are a latter addition and are silver plate they are not included in the weight of the items.I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions.Measure: 11 3/8” inches tall, 5 ¾” across round base Weight: 37.5 ounces on my postal scale or 1063 grams.
