Description: A scarce variety of the 1871 2 pence, brick red. It is on medium white wove paper with watermark 10 (Crown over CA). It is postally used with CDS. Excellent margins. No faults. Sismondo noted (prior to his death) that it does not correspond to the catalogue listing and that there is a plate proof that more closely matches the colour of this stamp, but that this stamp is clearly printed on stamp paper and not proof paper.
