This is the straight distance, don't bend the tape (see picture for size L - 5-3/4" distance). If you have a pair of glasses you can also get the measurement from the temple position, (again see picture), but some glasses bend outwards while wearing, make sure you bend them while measuring as well. In doubt Pick the next larger visor, the gap can be adjusted with the included foam tape, but the visor is not bendable, so if it is too small it won't work, but if too big it can work with more foam. The measurement is the the maximum opening this size will fit.
