Description: James Blish, despite a long career of original science fiction, is often most recognized for his Star Trek Reader books in which he converted the scripts of Star Trek Original Series shows into short stories. He also wrote the first Star Trek novel, Spock Must Die, to be published which created what is now an entire industry of original tie in novels for existing series. All that being said, his original science fiction work is highly respected. He won three Hugo/Retro Hugos, was nominated for three Nebulas and was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2002. He was also nominated for two British Science Fiction Association Awards, including a nomination for Best Novel for this item, The Triumph of Time, which also became the fourth installment of the fixup novel, Cities in Flight. This copy of The Triumph of Time, later published as A Clash of Cymbals in a hardcover edition, is the true first edition, first printing released in October, 1958 by Avon Books. The book is in Very Good- condition with some wear to the wraps and tanning to the pages as one would expect from a book more than 50 years old. There is some staining wrinkling to the upper corners as well but the binding remains tight and there is no writing or other marks to the interior.
