These bushings are useful for the most thorens td 124 (Mk1 and MkII), but they are not OK for the early Mk1, because some of them have different external diameter (17.6 mm) instead of 18 mm. IF YOUR THORENS HAS WORN BUSHINGS OR PLASTIC ONES THIS REFURBISHING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. PLASTIC BUSHINGS BECAME DEFECTIVE WITH AGE AND CAN DAMAGE THE SPINDLE. ONLY SINTERED BRONZE BUSHINGS ARE RECOMENDED BY THORENS. OLD THORENS TURNTABLES HAS DRY BUSHINGS (THE INNER OIL IN THE BUSHINGS IS DAMAGED, IT BECAME SOLID DUE TO ITS AGE), SO THEY ONLY WILL WORK WITH CONTINUOUS RE-GREASE ACTIONS. CHANGE THEM AND HAVE A LONG TIME OF USE FREE OF MAINTENACE WITH IMPROVED SOUND QUALITY. TO DO THIS WORKS SOME SKILL IS NEEDED ( THE BEST IS TO USE A PRESS TO TAKE OUT THE OLD BUSHINGS AND PRESS IN THE NEW ONES). ANOTHER WAY IS TO USE AN APPROPIATE ALLEN BOLT AND WASHERS (TO TAKE OUT THE OLD ONES AND PUSH IN THE NEW ONES). IT IS RECOMENDED TO DISMOUNT THE HOUSING OF THE BUSHINGS ( 3 SCREWS) AND DO THE CHANGE OUT OF THE CHASSIS . I HAVE CHANGED THEM USING SOME STEEL WASHERS (EXTERNAL DIAMETER OF 17.5 mm) + AN ALLEN BOLT+ NUT AND A SMALL HAMMER (TO PUSH OUT THE OLD ONES AND PRESS IN THE NEW ONES). THIS PROCEDURE WORKS BUT SEEMS MORE SAFE TO USE THE SCREW + WASHERS. A SMALL STEEL SAW COULD BE USED TO MAKE CUTS IN THE INNER DIAMETER OF THE OLD BUSHINGS (TO WEAK THEM) TO EASY TO PUSH THEM OUT. For anyone thinking of doing this the great news is that the hollow shaft into which the bearings are fitted is smooth all the way, not stepped or notched at all inside.You can pull both bearings through in the same direction in one action. Some people are oiling the bushings in hot oil. This is not necesary because they are already factory -oiled (self lubricated for life), so You need only to press in them (clean carefully the housing and add some oil in the inner surface to facilitate the entrance when pressing in the new bushings). Add some drops of oil in the spindel and on the thrust pad an is all for many years. "These fit perfectly and work very well in my early TD-124". IS RECOMEND TO CHANGE ALSO THE NYLATRON THRUST PAD AND THE GASKET (NORMALY DAMAGED WHEN DISMOUNTED). YOU CAN FIND THEM IN MY OTHER AUCTIONS.
