Description: Lovely large tapered body sarcophagus form lidded box with scalloped to top panel lid, fitted with a divided tray, one large side section with it's original lid cover in place. Black japanned overall finish inside and out, the lid shows a dark brown color and is decorated with two hnad painted stylized Asian birds. Inside the lid is painted in gold a scene of a hill with trees before an Asian structure. Interior finish is still lacqured, exterior is heavily worn. This is a restoration project piece as there are many flaws, please see the condition notes below. No returns accepted given it's condition. The lid hinges are still holding well, there is a brass escutcheon over a lock, no key provided. Approximate measurements, exterior: 13 1/2" wide, 9 5/8" deep, stands 5 1/4" tall.
