Description: This is a well-preserved fossil trilobite- Crotalocephalus (Crotalocelaphina) gibbus, from Morocco. Crotalocephalus lived during the Early Devonian (395-345 mya) on a prehistoric ocean floor, which is now part of the Atlas mountains of Morocco.Crotalocephalus has small holochroal eyes and a prominent glabella. The fossil measures 3.8 inches long (if flattened- it is arched over the rock) and 1.55 inches wide. Matrix and bug measure 3.44 inches long, 2.3 inches wide and 1.88 inches high. There is a repair running across the base of the cephalon and another through the mid thorax. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure. All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained. All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
