Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Vintage 1935 Singer Featherweight 221 Sewing Machine AD938548 Set w/Case Beauty · This is a rare, beautiful, collector’s antique original set in excellent condition. · It seems to have been stored in a clean, heated, nonsmoking home, fresh smelling. · Tested, works like new, tensions are great. · Belt is clean and may be new. · Full set includes case, power cord and foot pedal, and accessories. · The lovely decals are very clean, minor wear, they’re still a sparkling warm gold. · The machine seems rarely and gently used. · It's unusual to find one in this great condition. This unit was kept together with its original boxed set of attachments. It includes a few of the original accessories like small screwdriver, seam width guide, grease tube, needles, etc. I repaired the damaged power cord with a genuine Singer cord, it's like new again. I think this sweetie got so little use because the power cord was damaged early in life, then the machine was stored and never used again. See video taken after the cord repair to test operation. · Authentic early model features such as: o Genuine early school bell bobbin winder o Early upper thread tension unit. Provenance of Serial Number AD938548: This Singer Featherweight was made in the United States and was released June 24, 1935, among the fifth batch of 10,000 units made out of 1.75 million. I researched when various minor design features were adopted after the first model issue in 1933. This model has some of the newly introduced 1935 parts, plus a few older feature parts from 1933 and 1934 that were still available on the manufacturing line.This was the typical manufacturing practice of this period before 1939.Although the Featherweight is a basic straight stitch machine with reverse, it’s still among the most popular, lightweight, truly portable sewing machines. It features a wonderfully nimble, narrow 1/4" presser foot so treasured by quilters and fine couture sewers, not found on modern machines.
