Description: ***********The ETA 1258 automatic movement vacillates between running approximately 4 minutes slow to about 3 minutes fast when observed over several power reserve periods. The red date wheel rolls over as it should. Given that the movement does not keep reliable time and considering that it shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1950's Titus Titomatic MOD. 5400 has a lovely "SWISS" only signed toned textured dial and the lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and no longer glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The dial markers along with the hour and minute hands appear to have a faded/worn gold hue to them. The beautifully cut all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL - INCABLOC - WATERPROOF - SWISS" with "TITUS" stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching. The 17 jewels Swiss "TITUS WATCH Co" stamped ETA 1258 automatic movement runs strong, albeit fast or slow as it vacillates between losing approximately 4 minutes to gaining about 3 minutes when observed over several power reserve periods. This movement does not have a quickset date function. The red date wheel rolls over at 12 am. After recently winding the original, signed non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement gained or lost several minutes over multiple observed power reserve periods. The crown turns and winds with a bit of tension. Given that the movement does not keep reliable time and considering that it shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown, approximately 36 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 7.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
