Description: This vintage, red (a rare color) Hot Wheels Ford MK IV (part of the "1969 Grand Prix" line-up) was inspired by the Ford GT40 Mark IV. It was essentially the culmination of Henry Ford's desire to defeat Enzo Ferrari on the race track after a failed bid to acquire Ferrari's company. The 427-powered Ford GT40Mark IIs were wildly successful, and pulled off a 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Designer Ira Gilford created this Hot Wheels incarnation and it came with a water decal sheet (the owner of this one attached the decals). This version was made in the US, coming with clear windows (both the Hong Kong version has blue tinted windows - both have black interior. This toy has been carefully stored in a smoke-free environment, and kept in superior condition since the early 1970s - a relative's death revealed a stash of toys to entertain visiting grandchildren - the cars were only played with when the grandkids visited. I welcome any inquiries (and I am now shipping WORLDWIDE!)
