Description: Vintage Antique Hand-Hooked Rug, 37.5” x 46” Pretty Colors and Design. Needs Minor Repair and Cleaning This handmade hooked rug from the 1950s or even earlier looks like a Pearl McGown pattern. It has a pretty light beige-taupe background overall. The rug’s center displays a large rose with 8 buds, one that is half opened into a blossom, with leaves of several shades of green - blue green-teal, yellow green-olive, gray green and spruce green. Thin stripes of light pink and maroon or burgundy circle the rug’s center. Garlands of 6 roses are hooked across each of the two hemispheres of the rug. There are 10 buds, some in partial blossom, at the rug’s top and bottom, plus numerous shades green leaves. Lovely colors predominate like dark burgundy or maroon, light pink or peach with several shades of green in the leaves. A thick maroon edge forms the outside border with a narrow light pink ring. The rug is in acceptable condition. The binding needs replacing. Some edges have loose threads in a few places, easily repaired (photo 3,4,6), One edge (shown in photo 7) is turned up from being stored rolled, but it will relax quickly. Comparing the back to the front in photo 9 shows the extent of fading to the top. This rug once cleaned would be nice in any room and complements many color schemes. The wool was mostly if not entirely dyed by hand, making this a very labor-intensive product. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.
