Description: This is a real nice vintage engraving of F. Corman’s “The Vanquishers of Salamis” Photogravure Gebbie & Husson Co Ltd. It measures approximately 17”x11.5” and comes in a protective plastic sleeve with a fiberboard backing. As with most engravings the details in this is amazing. I believe this engraving was part of a set of award wining prints since the accompanying information sheet includes pictures and descriptions of other prints. In 1889 “The Vanquishers of Salamis” won the Medal of Honor of the Salon Paris Exposition. The image commemorates the victory of the Greeks over the Persian fleet, B.C. 480. The engraving and accompanying sheet are in real nice shape with very minor wear consistent with age but please scrutinize the pictures to judge condition for yourself and thanks for stopping by.
