Description: Summer Day at Mountain Lake. Painted on paper. Signed Kyuho and sealed. Noda Kyūho (1879-1971) Noda Kyūho was a distinguished Japanese painter of the Meiji to Showa periods. Born on December 22, 1879, he studied under Terasaki Kōgyō and at the Hakubakai Research Institute and the Japan Art Institute. Kyūho specialized in historical figure paintings and served as a judge for the Teiten exhibitions. He also worked for the Osaka Asahi Shimbun, illustrating works such as Natsume Sōseki's "The Miner." Kyūho was a member of the Japan Art Academy. He passed away on November 2, 1971, at the age of 91. Some light marks are present on the painting itself; otherwise, the painting is in very good condition for its age. Some marks are present on the scroll mounting when it is rolled, which do not appear on the front side of the textile. The scroll is in very good condition overall. The piece is accompanied by an original double paulownia wood storage box with the artist’s signature, indicating that it has been very well respected and treated.
