Description: ***********The ETA 2784 automatic movement runs about 7 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering that it has likely been several decades since it was last serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Mathey-Tissot Mergulhador UHF, which came from the estate of a career Navy Seal and Vietnam Vet who bought the watch in Portugal, has a satin orange rust "Swiss Made" signed dial that is in near pristine condition were it not for some loose dust/debris lying on its surface. Majority of the imperfections seen is dust/debris on the underbelly of the crystal. The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a toasted buttermilk hue. The vibrant orange seconds hand complements the dial beautifully. The stainless steel bezel, which has lost most of its black enamel paint, rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension. The all stainless steel case with Portugal import stamp on the upper left lug shows minor wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATERRESISTANT INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE" with "MATHEY-TISSOT" followed by "AUTOMATIC,""20 ATMOS" and "1635" stamped in the center. The crystal shows light wear and dust/debris on its underbelly. The ETA 2784 movement with quickset date function runs strong, albeit slow, and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the original, signed non-screwdown crown to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement ran about 7 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. The crown winds smoothly. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old, that the movement runs slow and considering that it has likely been several decades since it was last serviced (there is one visible watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back which appears to date to 1979) a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. This watch comes on a genuine and original 19 mm Tropic strap with signature "ACIER" stamped flared buckle that is fully pliable without any cracks/rips. The long end measures approximately 121 mm with the short end, excluding the buckle, measuring approximately 84 mm.Given that the movement runs slow and considering that it has likely been several decades since it was last serviced a complete overhaul is recommended.
