Description: Vintage "Zippy The Chimp" doll A lot of small manufacturers made their own Zip or Zippy monkeys from the 1950s until the 1970s. This one seems to date to the late 1950s or very early 1960s. The 'plush' material of the body is that more stiff synthetic 'fur' that often didn't survive well over time. He's heavy with a more rigid feel common to soft toys of that era. He can practically stand on his own but not quite. The face, hands and shoes are a dense, plasticky rubber. In outstanding vintage condition. Measures right about 21" and weighs a bit over 2lbs. Everything intact and still as supple as one can usually find for stuffed toys of this era. Banana has some small spots of missing paint. Shoes have a bit of wear. No significant odor. From a non-smoking home though, given his age, he was undoubtedly exposed at some point long ago. Yellow top has a few small slightly darker yellow spots & what looks like a bit of a black transfer surface stain on the underside of one of the arms. This material was notorious for changing color or staining if it got the slightest bit damp. So it's remarkable that the colors are so good & consistent. I've only given him a light cleaning but someone who knows what they're doing could likely easily clean him up further. Photos are of the actual item that you will receive.
