Description: This antique Wedgwood Portland Blue Jasperware syrup pitcher with hinged metal lid is a beautiful addition to any collection. Made in 1877, this pitcher measures approximately 5.5 inches (without finial), with a 3 inch opening and a base of 3.5 inches and features a stunning deep blue color. The rim is decorated with grape vines surrounding classical Greek mythology references. Wedgwood started impressing “England” on its jasperware starting in 1891. This pitcher is not impressed with “England” making its manufacture prior to that date. It has two letters impressed on its base , a “T” and an “F”. I believe that the pitcher corresponds to the 1877 date letter “F” rather than the 1865 date letter of “T.” But others may disagree with me. The item is an antique and sold as is. It may show wear, fading, firing imperfections, pitting, staining, chips, cracks and damage from wear. Examine photos carefully as they are part of the description. Imperfections were factored into pricing. No returns or refunds.
